Saudi, UAE set for 'major orders' of VIP armoured car

Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Russia are expected to place "major orders" for a new civilian VIP armoured vehicle, it has been announced.

Hydra Trading, an Abu Dhabi-based company specialising in providing technology solutions and maintenance, repair and overhaul services to the defence industry, said it had already secured more than AED122 million ($33m) in orders for the locally manufactured vehicles.

According to Dr Mohamad Zahran, director general, speaking on the sidelines of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi, the vehicle is mainly targeted for escorting VIPs, police and para-military forces.

"We are extremely pleased with the response this product has received. We have already sold around 75 units of the vehicle that combines 4x4 security with a luxury finish.
