NUNCO PASARAN - Modular

Portable modular device with anti-fragmentation screen to be deployed in public areas and crowded locations

General Description

The NUNCO PASARAN device is a disposable envelope filled with a special material and its constructed of materials that do not produce dangerous secondary fragmentation. The device contains an additional inner anti-fragmentation liner made of high-polymeric aramid materials, similar to ballistic armor. Blast inhibitor NUNCO PASARAN - is designed to reduce blast effects causes by an explosion equal to up to 11 kg TNT, stop fragments and suppress thermal effects.

Tests
The subject tests were conducted at the Polychrome in Israel.
The objectives were:
  1. To measure the Airblast pressure at several distances from a 5 kg spherical explosive charge of cast TNT placed inside the blast inhibition device.
  2. To measure the Airblast and observe fragments from a surface burst, spherical, 5 Kg TNT charge with 9.5 mm steel balls inside the blast inhibition device.
Charges were placed on the ground for each test. The following table details the three tests performed:

Measurements were taken by Model 137 Piezoelectric pressure transducers, placed in gage stands.

The Airblast gages were at a height of ~0.35 meter.
The HSV camera (manufactured by Phantom) recorded after a trigger signal from the detonating charge on all three tests.

Conclusions
  • The Airblast generated outside of the NUNCO PASARAN -2-79/80VAT from a 5 Kg charge of cast spherical TNT is equivalent to that from a 1.25 Kg charge of TNT.
  • The Peak pressures from tests IV and V were found to be about 30% of those from a bare 5 Kg TNT explosion.
  • The fragment velocity of 293 M/sec for a fragment weighing 3.5 grams is sufficient to penetrate the body of unprotected personnel. From the HSV we observed 3 fragments at this speed over a ~1 sqm area.
  • A fireball lasting about 1 millisecond was observed on test IV before the NUNCO PASARAN -2-79/80VAT dispersed and quenched it. This is compared to a fireball lasting several milliseconds from the bare charge of test III.
  • A safe distance of >9 meters from the NUNCO PASARAN-2- 79/80VAT with 5 Kg of TNT is recommended to avoid eardrum rupture

The tests were managed by “XX WVAT” - XX Century Wars Veterans Against Terror a NATO Military Base Kadaga.
